Canva Business is an all-in-one platform built for individuals and small teams that want to create on-brand, high-impact visual content quickly and easily. In this post we'll break down the benefits, features and cost of Canva Business and why it might suit your business or team. And where you can get more training once you decide to move to Canva Business.
Is Canva Business worth it?
At Socially Sorted, we train many teams – both big and small – to use Canva Business (previously called Canva Teams). It's the perfect system for creating on-brand high-impact visual content as a team. As a Certified Training Partner for Canva (and with our lead creative, Donna Moritz being a Canva Verified Expert) our agency loves working with teams of non-designers and designers to create on-brand, high-impact content at scale.
Suffice to say we love Canva Business and working with teams. If you can invest in Canva Business, we believe it's the best product for small teams (with Canva Enterprise being best for medium-sized to large teams).
But there are a few things you need to know about Canva Business first in order to determine if it's right for your business.
This post will help answer the question “Is Canva Business Worth It?” but if you're in a hurry, here are the Key Takeaways:
Key Takeaways
- Canva Business is an all-in-one solution for your team to create on-brand, high-impact visual content faster and smarter.
- Canva Business is perfect for growing teams, especially small to medium-sized teams that consist of one single team and don't need multi-team structure as an organisation.
- You can start a free trial of Canva Business here for one month using our link.
- Canva Business gives you more features than Canva Pro, allowing you to use advanced Brand features (like Design Approvals) as part of Canva's complete Brand System. You can leverage AI-powered Ads, enjoy advanced administration and reporting, premium data visualisation and advanced AI image generation to name a few features.
- Canva Business leads to increased productivity as a team, less design workload and faster turnaround time for projects.
- Canva Business is the new version of Canva Teams. Canva Teams is no longer available to new users, upgrades or sign-ups, but existing Canva Teams accounts will retain access to the same features and can add new users at the same pricing.
- Canva Business is approximately $25 USD per month per user in your team, with discounts for annual payment, so you will save by choosing annual payment for Canva Business.

Canva Business vs Canva Teams
A question we often get asked since the launch of Canva Business is “What happened to Canva Teams?”
Great Question! Canva Business is essentially the new version of Canva Teams. Canva Teams is no longer available for new users, upgrades or sign-ups. New users will now sign up for Canva Business to access Team features.
BUT if you are on an existing or legacy Canva Teams account, please note:
- you will still have access to all the features you have always had on Canva Teams (unless you downgrade your team).
- All new team members will be added on to your existing Canva Teams account at the same pricing with the same feature set (up to a maximum of 100 seats).
- If you need more than 100 seats or if you have multiple teams within your Organisation or if you need more Org-level features, then talk to our agency about upgrading to Canva Enterprise.
- In short, if you are using Canva Teams and don't need to change much, stay put for now, as you have a great deal!

As you can see, there are some definite benefits to upgrading to Canva Business if you have a small to medium team. Let's break these features or reasons down in more detail:
Key Features of Canva Business
Some premium features are the same for Canva Business compared to Canva Pro and make Canva Business worth the upgrade. This includes features like
- Premium Canva templates and elements
- Premium publishing options)
- Social Content Calendar.
- Canva's AI Design Tools (including Magic Editing Tools, Image and Video Background Remover, AI Video tools and more).
But the primary reason you would consider moving to Canva Business to Canva Pro is if you have a team. Canva Business is the entry point into massive benefits for teams.
Whether you have a small or medium team, Canva Business provides you with additional features that will skyrocket the productivity and visual content output of your team – at scale.
Let's break down some of the key features that differ for teams that take advantage of Canva Business. These are the features that might convince you that Canva Business is worth it… and to upgrade from Canva Pro:
1. Canva Business Pricing & Users
Canva Business is more of an investment than Canva Pro. Per seat, Canva Business is $25 per month per seat, or discounted to for annual payment.
You can purchase Canva Business on the link below for up to 100 people. Beyond this, talk to us and we can liaise with Canva for a package if you need more seats (or to advise if Canva Enterprise is more suited to your needs).

2. Brand Management & Controls
Like Canva Pro, Canva Business gives you access to Brand Kits, Brand Templates and Brand controls. You get all the benefits of Canva's Brand System, as outlined in this video:
You can also read more about Canva's Brand features and Brand System in this post.
How Canva Business differs is the following. In addition to the Brand features in Canva's Brand System, you also get:
- More Brand Kits – With Canva Business you can create up to 100 Brand Kits (whereas you can only create 5 with Canva Pro).
- Linking Folders to Brand Kits – For example, if your team has a folder system for approved brand photography, you can link those folders and subfolders to the Brand Kits they apply to. This is only available in Canva Teams and Canva Enterprise, not Canva Pro.
- Design Approvals – in addition to the Brand features in Canva that we know and love (like Brand Kit, Brand Templates, Brand Controls and Template locking) you can also set up Design Approvals. This requires team members to seek approval for designs at a team-wide level or at a brand template level. For instance, you might choose to have all print-ready designs to be approved first before they can be downloaded.
Find out more about Design Approvals in this video:
In our experience, Design Approvals are one of the most powerful Canva Business features that make it worth it for teams we work with. Designs and non-designers love this feature as it lets everyone create visuals, knowing that the brand is protected.
3. Premium AI Tools

With Canva Business, you get higher AI access to Premium AI tools like
- AI generated images with Dream Lab
- Premium AI tools added to your free access to Affinity for your entire team to use
- Ability to create video clips with Canva AI and more.
While Canva Pro gives you high usage of many of these tools, you get even more bandwidth and usage for creating when your team levels up to Canva Business. Note: some of these usage limits may change over time, but you generally get higher access with Canva Business.
Another bonus of Canva Business is that you get access to these two AI tools (not available on Canva Pro):
- Leonardo AI (Leonardo is an Image and Video Generation Tool which is included in Canva Business).
- Flourish Presenter Plan (Flourish is an Interactive Data Visualisation Tool which is included in Canva Business).

And as mentioned you get all the usual AI Magic Design tools for photos and video you've come to know and love in Canva Pro from Background Remover to Magic Edit to Beat Sync and Enhance Voice in video.
Also, don't forget that all Canva users get access to Affinity (professional design software. Everyone gets access to the basic version of Affinity Software. But… advanced AI features are included in Canva Business for your whole team:

PS: Canva Business is worth it when you look at access to Affinity, Flourish and Leonardo alone!
4. Workplace & Collaboration Tools
As it is mainly teams using Canva Business, it's important to have advanced team collaboration tools to support this. While you get access to the same amazing collaboration tools like real-time collaboration, comments, ability to assign tasks and link sharing that you get in Canva Pro, Canva Business gives you more.

With Canva Business you get access to:
- Team-only links – you can create and share links to designs that only your team can access. Like this:

This makes it SO much easier to organise content with your team!
5. Team Management & Permissions
With Canva Business being tailored for teams, you get additional team management and permission features such as:
- AI Admin Controls – control your team's access to AI-powered tools.
- Assign Roles to your team – manage team access and permissions (ie from Admin to Brand Designer to Team Members).
- Transfer Ownership of content – as an admin you can transfer ownership from team members who leave your team.
- Reports – Monitor and track how your team members are using Canva and what types of content they are creating.
- Apps and Integrations – sync data from your favorite external sources.
6. AI-powered Ads for Teams

Canva Business is worth it when it comes to ad management. Canva Business allows you to scale your marketing with AI-powered ads (also known as Canva Grow). This is exclusive to Canva Business and Canva Enterprise for larger teams. Here are some of the benefits for your team:
- Library of Ads – Browse a library of ads to see what is working in your industry.

In Summary, Canva Grow helps you to find new ad ideas, generate ads with Canva's AI Ad Generator and publish directly to Meta as well as see your ad performance and insights, all in one place.
7. Storage & Organisation
Canva Business gives you a lot more storage (500GB) than Canva Pro (100GB) which is necessary for growing teams.
You can never have too much storage right? Especially when your team will now be turning out impactful visual content at scale.
