Anzac Day is held annually on April, 25 and is a significant day of commemoration in Australia and New Zealand. It marks the date and time of the 1915 Gallipoli landing in Turkey on the Gallipoli peninsula – the first major military action for ANZAC forces in World War I. It honors the sacrifice of over 8700 Australians and 2779 New Zealand soldiers who died in the conflict, recognizing all who served.
Key symbols of Anzac Day that you might see in Anzac Day Canva templates include the red poppy and rising sun badge. The last post is also bugled by servicemen to signify the end of duty and often there are often returned heroes featuring in Anzac Day content. Events include dawn services, which honor the time of the original landing, followed by marches, wreath-laying and sometimes two-up games (a historic gambling game played in the 19th century in Australia.
