5 Unmissable SlideShare Presentations about Social Media

I love a great presentation. I am a TED Talk addict and I can get lost in great slides.  So it's no surprise that I love SlideShare.

A great Slideshare Presentation is one that you simply can't stop clicking through. One you can't miss and see through to the end.

Here are 5 SlideShare Presentations about Social Media that fit the bill for “simply can't miss”.  They are visually appealing, contain awesome actionable content and are so engaging that you will want to click through to the end.

If you want to use social media the right way, then these 5 slide decks will have you thinking differently – thinking about social media in terms of how to tell social stories, care about your fans involve your fans. They also highlight how to not make huge mistakes and how to rock your content.

Watch. Bookmark. Re-watch….and take action on the awesomeness contained within these presentations.

5 SlideShare Presentations You Simply Can't Miss:

#1  Storytelling in 2014 (Gary Vaynerchuk)

The first slide deck is one that I think every marketer should watch. On repeat.  Gary Vaynerchuk tells it like it is:

The way to truly succeed and provide value is to learn to natively storytell on each platform”  Gary Vaynerchuck

If you want to learn how to get the attention of users (at a time when they are being bombarded with content) and to start creating micro-content that isn't just another noisy post on social media….then check out this presentation.

#2  The World's Biggest Social Media Team (Tourism Australia)

I had the privilege of speaking alongside Jesse Desjardins (Head of Social Media, Tourism Australia) in 2013 at the Social Media Tourism Symposium. It was Jesse's presentation that was the stand out of the conference for me.

Jesse outlined the social media strategy of Tourism Australia, and how they had turned their Facebook Page over to the fans. He shared how this bold move has helped them to become the world's largest destination page on Facebook with 5.5 million fans.  Tourism Australia continues to focus on consumer generated stories through platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

This SlideShare (I believe) is one of the most important pieces of content online today for marketers. Personally I think it should be mandatory for all marketing students to become besties with the content of this Slide deck…it's that insightful!  There is a lot of information here, but read it. You won't be sorry:

Tourism Australia have harnessed the power of word of mouth in exceptional ways.

Word of mouth has always been and will always be all powerful – Tourism Australia

Oh, and not only is Jesse an an outstanding speaker and a great leader for his team, but he is also a SlideShare influencer and produced the popular You Suck at Powerpoint Slide Deck.  So, he knows how to rock a Powerpoint.

#3 7 Deadly Social Media Sins

This is a fun take on the 7 Deadly Sins – don't do these things. Just don't.  But then take not of follow the alternative suggestions in this easy to consume deck and do those!  This one is brought to you by content marketing agency Xplain.

#4  What the F**K is Social Media?

Yes, it's a little cheeky, but the message in this presentation is important.  There are some great stats in this presentation, and it challenges us to think differently about social media:

#5  Crap. The Content Marketing Deluge.

This is another cheeky take on the facts, and why the single biggest threat to content marketing is quite possibly content marketing itself.  This presentation suggests that we need to build “great content brands”.  There are some great takeaways for you here:
